Akera Thomas – Te’enah Room Leader (Baby Room)

My name is Akera, I am the room leader in Te’enah, the baby room at Shofar. I have over 10 years of experience working with children. I started my journey as an Agency cover staff member, and it was mutual love at first sight. Sharon allowed me the opportunity to become a full-time Shofar staff member and to undergo my level 3 in childcare qualification. After this, I worked my way up, working closely with my room leader before becoming a room leader myself.

Children are my passion, and their development is so important to me. I simply love watching them progress and grow, and we get to witness such huge milestones while guiding them through their journeys. 

I have attended courses to gain more knowledge to better understand children and meet every child’s individual needs. I have a Level 3 qualification in Childcare and strive to continue to learn more to ensure that the children have an enabling environment in which they can progress and thrive.

I am hardworking, energetic, nurturing, and very down to earth. I pride myself on creating an enabling, fun-filled environment where children can learn, explore, and develop through play. I also create strong partnerships with parents and families to meet individual needs. I love setting up activities, especially messy play, which stimulates the children and encourages them to meet all areas of learning.
